Chapter 139: God Looked Away
Chapter 139: God Looked Away
It is the loose ends with which men hang themselves.
Leon and the Emberlord made a deal.
A forbidden deal made of greed.
And since it was forbidden, no one was supposed to hear about this.
But some people did.
After the Resonance binding, Leon turned to the man in the black coat and white shirt.
He was Diablo.
He was with Leon the entire time.
He had pale skin, black hair and red eyes.
He was what women fawned over.
And they would fawn over him more if they found out he was a killer as well.
As the deal ended, Leon simply gave one order to Diablo.
"Fix loose ends."
Diablo being the loyal man he was, obliged.
He turned towards the Enforcers and the Flame Keeper and his first prey became Varikh.
Varikh and the other two men knew what Leon meant by his order and when their gazes asked for the Emberlord’s help, the godman averted his eyes.
Their heart dropped to the abyss of their stomachs.
"Hail the flame, was it?"
Diablo mocked with no emotions on his face and...
TAP!
Tapped his foot on the ground. At the spot below Varikh.
And from that simple action...
SHRILL!
Flames arrived from that spot where Varikh stood.
Before the Enforcer could even move his finger, the flames formed into the shape of a mouth and gobbled the Enforcer whole.
From head to toe.
As the flames ended, Varikh appeared different.
The strong and brave Enforcer Varikh, in front of everyone’s eyes...
Reduced to dust.
The Priest and Kairon’s eyes widened.
The Flamekeeper only saw one way to survive.
He pushed Kairon and made a run for the door.
However...
WHISH!
Diablo arrived in front of him.
The Priest’s breath jammed at his throat and Diablo raised his hand.
He didn’t tap his foot this time.
His right hand was in the form of chopping. As if he would cut bricks in two with the side of his palm.
He raised it above the Priest’s head and instead of a brick...
SHRIIP!
He cut the Priest in two.
From the middle.
Vertically.
One part fell to the left and one part fell to the right.
The Priest was dead.
Warm red blood flowed towards Diablo’s feet and the man licked his lips before averting his eyes from it.
Kairon trembled at the happenings of the past few seconds as he stepped back.
He stood at the corner of the office, nowhere to run.
There were no windows.
He couldn’t break the wall and run away.
The Priest tried that and he was separated in two parts.
The red eyed man wasn’t someone you could escape.
"You won’t even feel it, Enforcer. Let’s not waste our time." Diablo said.
Kairon shook his head.
Beads of sweat dripped from his face as he constantly eyed the Emberlord, hoping the man hadn’t forsaken him.
But even for the helper of Godman, hope wasn’t available today.
He gritted his teeth.
"This is not right. You can’t kill me like this. I don’t want to die as an Enforcer. I can’t die before harming Zane Atlas!"
Kairon screamed but Diablo kept coming towards him.
As much as Kairon turned desperate, Diablo turned slower.
He didn’t show it to his face but his brain excreted endorphins with Kairon’s screams.
Leon watched it while sitting on the Emberlord’s table and he had his usual thin smile.
Kairon had no weapons on him but he removed his heavy shoes.
He launched them with full strength on Diablo but only ashes touched the man’s pale skin.
Kairon’s thick shoes burned to dust before they could even reach him.
"Shit. Don’t blame me for this."
Kairon cursed and then muttered under his breath and the next second, a crown made of flames and a sword made of the same material manifested on the Enforcer.
"Fight me now, bitch!"
Kairon yelled but no change happened in Diablo’s face.
Leon remained calm as ever.
The Emberlord also didn’t know what would happen anymore.
Varikh died before he could use his Skill.
The Flamekeeper didn’t have a Skill that would have helped him at the moment.
Kairon was the only one who had a chance with the type of skill he had.
Coin expected a fight would take place in his office. A big one.
Therefore, he spread his arms and covered his office with the white dome again.
But Coin only knew about the Enforcer.
He didn’t know about Diablo.
Kairon held his flaming sword tightly with both hands and moved one step forward.
Nothing happened.
But when Diablo moved one step forward...
ZUP!
The Emberlord’s brows shot up.
Kairon’s flaming crown and sword, both of them, without any hesitation, went inside Diablo.
The handsome man didn’t even move his finger to do something with the flames.
The flames went inside Diablo on their own as if he was their home. As if they belonged inside his heart.
The Emberlord removed the white shield from the room as no fight would take place. It was one sided.
Kairon watched his power running away to Diablo with helpless eyes.
He recalled the moment when Lyvia left him for someone else.
The girl he loved and cared for all his life abandoned him all because he happened to become a mere Enforcer instead of a knight of a crown or a Discipline Sentinel.
THUD!
Kairon fell to his knees.
He stopped running.
Diablo inhaled deeply. His red eyes passed a glint as he couldn’t get enough of a face that realized their helplessness. Especially in front of him. Especially because of him.
Diablo finally reached in front of Kairon and raised his leg.
Kairon didn’t react.
He turned numb.
It was hopeless.
He couldn’t win.
Kairon simply waited for the tap of Diablo’s foot and it came as well.
But not on the floor.
Diablo placed his foot on Kairon’s leg.
His right leg.
But the spot Diablo chose on random to humiliate, it made Kairon twitched.
He felt his heart again.
Diablo’s foot was right where Zane Atlas had bit him.
And that act from Diablo...
"I refuse."
Revived Kairon from the state of numbness.
